Item Description: RARE & BEAUTIFUL! This is an antique 7 piece cider set. It includes the cider pitcher and 6 hand painted antique handled cups all made of Limoges porcelain.
They have beautiful grapes and foliage painted all around the outside of the pitcher and cups.
The handles and top edges are gilded. Gild is bright and intact!
The pitcher is signed on the bottom by the artist "DOROTHY V. ANDERSON" and the cups all are signed with her initials.
DOROTHY VISJU ANDERSON was a painter, and also a writer. Born in Oslo, Norway on Oct. 23, 1874!! Anderson studied at AIC and with Wm M. Chase before settling in southern California in 1910. Primarily a portrait painter, she had an ART SCHOOL in Hollywood and exhibited at various Los Angeles galleries, until her death on Sept. 4, 1960. Member: San Diego FA Society; Calif. Art Club; LAAA; Beverly Hills AA (founder-pres.). Exh: Chicago Art Guild, 1918 (prize); Oakland Art Gallery, 1931; LACMA, 1937 (medal). In: Hollywood Women's Club; Elks Club (LA). AAA 1915-33; WWAA 1936-62
This set was always stored in a display cabinet and it looks like it!
Cider Pitcher- marked Tressemann and Vogt Limoges France Mark 10. This dates 1892 to 1907.
Size: 6" tall. 9" across (WITH THE HANDLE).

6 CUPS- are marked with the UNION CERAMIQUE Limoges France Mark 1. This dates them 1909 to 1938.
Size: 3" tall.
